My Story
I'm one of those teachers that wants choice - personal choice-in my curriculum. When faced with Text Structure, I really wanted kids to explore it beyond the provided materials. These graphic organizers were born from that! Real World learning placed in student's hands!
The Problem
The problem really was that the pages and ideas provided by text book companies never really got the job done. There needed to be words and patterns that kids could use to identify the structure used by the writer.
The Solution
The solution came from what teachers do - create what is needed. Diving deep I went to researching what older students were being taught about text structure. Next, I took it down to the upper elementary level. It worked! Plus the students could now refer to the information in their notebooks! Win-Win!
